Product designer Alvin Tjitrowirjo has built a solid and respectable career over the last decade. He has distinguished himself from the rest by remaining truthful to the place from whence he came. His choice of material and his involvement in the preservation of local heritage reflect his love toward the Indonesian tradition.
Graduated from RMIT University in Australia, Alvin has always had a penchant for art and design. His ‘Bell Chair’ was exhibited at Salone Satelitte in Milan (2005). Upon his return to Indonesia in 2006, Alvin garnered respect from local design audience, by collaborating with international brands as well as Indonesian leading design figures and ultimately establishing his furniture brand alvinT. Alvin continued his studies at the IED Instituto Europeo di Design, Madrid with a master’s degree in Product Design, which followed with a stint at celebrated International designer Marcel Wanders in Amsterdam. This was carried on with a chair designed by Alvin launched by MOOOI in Milan 2014. 2016 As part of the Alamak Project, Alvin exhibited his furniture among several other Asian designers in Design Museum Triennale Milan as part of the Design Triennale Milano.
