Restaurant Interior Design Ideas From All Over The World
Great restaurants offer good food and an amazing ambience. Go through the review of any restaurant and the ambience will always be mentioned. Why not, after all, the ambience sets the tone for how you feel at the restaurant. The interiors obviously play a major role in that. Right from the flooring, lighting, seating, and décor, everything matters.
These curated spaces can offer a lot of inspiration for your home as well. Not just limited to the dining space, you can adapt a few design ideas to any part of your home. All you need is a little imagination and a little help from us. Read on.
GREEN IS IN
Many restaurants nowadays are focusing on being environmental friendly. Some have gone ahead and introduced the outside in their interior and the result has been quite amazing. For example, Mamma Pink in Paris resembles a greenhouse and the careful selection and placement of plants is far from overwhelming. It in fact creates a pleasant atmosphere. If you’d rather not introduce many potted plants in your dining area, there’s also the option of a foliage wall. Especially if your dining area opens out to the terrace or a lawn. Many restaurants have installed a vertical garden or a foliage wall and it makes the space look more open, inviting and fresh.
LIGHTING
Now this depends on what kind of space you want to create. The latest trend is leaning towards the funkier side with a hint of sophistication, so scattered lighting is in right now. You can control the mood with that. Be cautious about the space though. If the room isn’t very big, then go lighter on the number of lights, or else it can quickly get quite overwhelming.
Or you can go the classic chandelier over the dining table style as well. This makes for a more cozy seating. If you host big, intimate dinners, then this is the one you should go for.
FURNITURE
Basics are in. Straight backed wooden chairs inspired by Danish designs are the rage in most chic restaurants right now which prefer a style of minimalism. To add a touch of glamour, you may add seat covers. Fur is a popular choice, but be careful this matches with your existing décor. If your current design is basic and simple, this can end up looking quite ostentatious.
Reclaimed wood is growing in popularity as well. Not only will it be an authentic feature, it can also work as a conversation starter!
COLOURS
Playing with colours can be tricky. Do you want to play it safe with neutral colours, or want to amp up the quirky factor? The thing is, you can always mix and match. Both have their pros and cons. What restaurants have started doing is, have an accent wall with graffiti or other interesting art and then keep the other walls bare with minimal decoration. The focus nowadays is more on the furniture and the lighting. The industrial look is also in, which basically means exposed pipes, unpainted walls. This look is difficult to achieve however as you need to be careful to not fall over to the shabby side while trying to be grungey.
Even in the case of furniture, you can combine brights with more sober colours to instantly give a classy feel. Example, a red chair with black table. This feels classic and modern at the same time.
ACCENT PIECES
Restaurants always try to stand out with their décor. They usually always have a standard accent piece. It can be the shape of the table, a special wall, their lights, or other form of art. You can introduce this feature to your home as well, depending on the room and the space. Log style tables are in and can be introduced in the bedroom and the living room. You can have special crockery for your dining room. The idea is to introduce small key elements and that is enough to change the entire look of your place.
